AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE Drummer Quits: 'I'm Tired Of Watching Drugs Destroy Everyone Around Me'

February 12, 2006

AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE drummer Chris Emery has officially left the band. In a posting on the group's forum, Emery wrote, "The night before the [band's Feb. 11 hometown] show [in Minneapolis], I quit AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE. Why? I choose to. I'm tired of watching drugs and alcohol destroy everyone around me, including myself. I choose to live with more options. The party is over for me. See you on the other side. If you want to come with, I'll be cheering you on."

AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE recently held auditions to replace bassist Chad Hanks after he switched to guitar to replace the recently departed Karma Cheema (Karma has since joined the California-based band OTEP).

AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE guitarist Bryan Ottoson died in April 2005 from a prescription drug overdose while the group was on tour with MUDVAYNE.

St. Paul Pioneer Press reported in August 2005 that a vandal stole $15,000 worth of high-end amps and other gear from AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE's trailer while it was parked outside of their rehearsal space in Minneapolis.
